Dry-sift is the oldest solventless method. Cured flower is gently agitated against a series of dry screens (typically 90μ–120μ) — the trichome heads, once cured to a stable state, fall through the screen as kief. Static-tech dry-sift uses a charged screen to attract and capture the trichome heads more efficiently. Dry-sift is less time-intensive than ice-water hash, but yields a less pure final product because more plant matter passes through. It can be hand-pressed into traditional hash bricks, used as a pre-roll infusion, or dabbed.
